Training at HEITEC: Showing the way in troubled times

01.07.2021

The coronavirus crisis has become a nightmare for some current and aspiring trainees. Many companies have cut back their slots for trainees – which will mean a shortage of many skilled workers tomorrow. At HEITEC, we’ve set ourselves the goal of countering that trend by adding more occupations and openings for training.

Training is a very high priority at HEITEC. Many of our employees started out with our company as trainees. Alongside the occupations we’ve offered so far, we’ll be adding openings to train electronics technicians for automation equipment and management assistants for digitalization. The latter is a new training occupation that will qualify learners to digitalize commercial processes at a company and to serve as interpreters between specialized commercial departments and IT in order to ensure meaningful digital processes. If we’re able to fill all the training slots at all our sites, in September HEITEC will begin training about 20 young people for their professional futures. We aim to accept as many suitable candidates as possible. At the same time, we intend to continue our well-established policy of offering dual-track university programs and high-school internships as a way of introducing young people to technology’s appeal early in their lives.

What the trainees think

One example of the lasting value of training is Mathieu Reto, the top achiever in his group, who completed his training last year as an IT specialist in systems integration. Since then he’s been working for our company as a systems administrator. “I was treated as a full-fledged member of the HEITEC family right from the start of my training. I was challenged and also supported. Ultimately that helped me complete my training very successfully.”
Nina Herbig, in her second year of training as an assistant in office management, was sold on HEITEC right from the moment of her introductory interview. The good work atmosphere, variety of jobs, and the option to work on projects from an early stage only served to strengthen her initial impression. “It’s great how the employees look out for me and always check to see how things are going and that everything’s all right. I feel well taken care of at HEITEC and look forward to coming to work every day.”

Responsibility as a top employer

More training positions in technical fields are planned for the future so that our technology company can help meet the rising demand for STEM workers. So it’s fitting that a broad-based study by the famed Heise publishing house and the Institute for Management and Economic Research singled out HEITEC as one of Germany’s best STEM employers.
