Modernisation of a furnace line using a model example (Vacuumschmelze (VAC) GmbH & Co. KG, Hanau)
VACUUMSCHMELZE (VAC) in Haunau develops, produces and markets speciality materials and products refined from them. The modernisation of the control and regulation technology was intended to increase the availability and operational reliability of five bell annealing furnaces. The systems were previously monitored and controlled via a centralised control system and a single operating and monitoring system. An important customer requirement was to be able to operate each furnace independently and to install an additional operating and monitoring system in the control room to manage and distribute recipes. In addition, the logging of process values was to be modernised and a convenient user administration system set up.Realisation
HEITEC supplied a complete package consisting of hardware and software engineering, system conversion and commissioning as well as training for the maintenance and operating personnel. The central control of all ovens (Simatic S5 155U) was replaced by autonomous individual controls for each oven group (Simatic S7 1511-1 PN), each with its own external control unit (mTRON T, JUMO), and the existing COROS LSB visualisation was replaced by a WinCC flexible system with user administration.
Customer benefits
- Increase in system availability
- Increased communication speed through the use of PROFINET
- Adaptation and optimisation of process sequences
- Process extension for special annealing processes
- Storage of all recipes in each furnace control system, thus in the event of a fault
- On-site operation with current data possible
- Time synchronisation in all controls and HMIs
Operating authorisation can be conveniently managed via RFID chips on each furnace control unit
