Future-proof digitalisation for the manufacturing industry

Our manufacturing client required an advanced, cloud-based software ecosystem to streamline the management, planning, control and operation of CNC machines. The goal was to create a holistic digital environment that would future-proof their manufacturing processes and seamlessly integrate complex workflows.

Realisation

HEITEC has already worked together with Lamy on three laser setting systems. The input is a round feeder into which the spring tips can be fed as bulk material. These are then cycled through the machine using a precision rotary table. In the first step, the ink gap through which the ink flows from the reservoir and the offset of the nib legs are determined using a camera system. Alignment is achieved by targeted partial heating of the nib using a laser. After successful alignment and verification using another camera, the nibs are sorted and output according to different quality characteristics. With a cycle time of 3.5 seconds per nib, the system not only guarantees maximum speed, but also the lowest tolerances in the hundredths of a millimetre range and therefore maximum precision. The laser setting system is used to process six different nib types, with each nib passing through six stations in the machine.
