Exterior "bumper" test system
The zero-defect strategy is an absolutely essential target definition in the automotive industry. The issue of quality assurance is therefore becoming increasingly important. Innovative measuring and testing technologies for industrial use play a key role here. SMP-Samvardhana Motherson Peguform in Neustadt an der Donau, an exterior/interior supplier to several premium car brands, commissioned HEITEC to develop a new fully automated test system for testing front bumpers.
Realisation
The new fully automatic test system from HEITEC optimally fulfils all requirements. Secured by a roller shutter, the mounted bumper is swivelled into the test chamber via a swivel table with two mounts and checked by 25 cameras. Once the images have been analysed, the correct installation of possible components such as safety and assistance systems, lighting, sensors, etc. is displayed. Verification is based on the previously scanned construction order (barcode/DMC) and the corresponding data from the internal database. A second test specimen can be placed and prepared during the test process. This results in a maximum cycle time of ten seconds. In the case of "not in order" (NIO) evaluations, an image with the missing features is displayed to the inspector and saved.
