Cost-optimized solution for complex server electronics

HEITEC has realised a cost-efficient housing for a provider of communication solutions, which uses standard components as far as possible, but has been modified as necessary and as required.

Brief technical description

  • HeiPac Vario module desktop enclosure
  • D x W x H: 245 mm x 84TE x 3HE
  • Coded card guides with ESD clips LP = 160 x 2.00 mm
  • Base plate with perforation of 2.0 mm hole diameter
  • Protection class IP40

Realisation

Digital alarm and communication servers facilitate and accelerate communication processes, protect and alert, make employees more mobile, optimise telephone and multimedia accessibility and automate recurring processes. Such systems are used in many sectors, such as healthcare, energy supply, transport and traffic, financial services and public institutions. A wide variety of functions enable event-based and automated communication processes such as broadcast calls and alarms for people, personal security functions, crisis conferences and extended alarm functions for emergency services.

The complex and specialised server electronics enable highly available and very stable solutions. The "frame" for the device housing is defined by the high packing density of the electronics and various designs tailored to the intended use. The result is a 19-inch desktop housing with handles, based on the HeiPac Vario module, which can be installed in a server cabinet if required and which the end customer can customise ergonomically and easily to suit their needs. In addition to the housing design and integration of the electronics, HEITEC was also responsible for quality assurance and mechanical function tests.

Special customer requests, such as a front panel customised to the customer's corporate design, were also quickly implemented. The basic housing structure, such as the side panels, is designed using 19-inch technology and the profile rails are also standardised. In this way, the installation space for the desired layout could be created quickly and cost-effectively. The card guides were customised according to the customer's requirements in terms of equipment. Special perforated base and cover plates were developed and installed to enable optimum passive ventilation of the densely packed electronics without additional fans and at the same time fulfil the requirements for electrical and mechanical safety and EMC. In addition, the perforation with a hole diameter of 2.0 mm enabled the required UL approval to be achieved.

Customer benefits

  • Customised desktop enclosure for customer-specific system
  • Good protection against environmental conditions (IP40)
  • Complete enclosure solution with integrated backplane and wiring harness, quality assurance and functional tests from a single source
  • Special adaptations to corporate design specifications
  • Maximum installation space for complex server electronics
  • High EMC protection
  • UL approval
  • Cost-optimised housing solution
  • Logistics concept specially adapted to customer requirements (e.g. short-term availability)
