With HEITEC Innovations GmbH and its Managing Director Dr Jochen Lorz, HEITEC is also involved in the field of renewable energies, which represent a crisis-proof and cost-effective form of energy supply. This is why HEITEC, together with NürnbergMesse GmbH, is currently developing the most powerful hybrid power plant in Bavaria.
With the construction of a hybrid power plant, NürnbergMesse is pursuing the goal of making its energy supply climate-neutral by 2028. The general planning of the NürnbergMesse project is the responsibility of HEITEC Innovations GmbH from Erlangen, which has enabled the technically and economically optimised design of the system with its simulation-based approach. HEITEC's simulation libraries realistically model all components of an energy system in the areas of electricity, heating, cooling and hydrogen.
By directly linking the dynamic simulation models with a profitability calculation, it was also possible to forecast a high return on investment for NürnbergMesse. The expected CO2 savings and the convincing planning work of HEITEC Innovations provided the impetus for the decision to build the first expansion stage of the hybrid power plant by the Free State of Bavaria and the City of Nuremberg.
The ambitious project shows how, in times of high energy prices, short amortisation periods and high cost savings can be achieved by investing in renewable energy. The simulation models used can be utilised not only for an optimal design: Together with weather and load forecasts, the energy flows in the future power plant are ideally controlled by the predictive operational optimisation developed by HEITEC. This means that surplus solar energy can be stored in batteries or converted into hydrogen, for example.
HEITEC Innovations GmbH supported the project from the basic evaluation to the implementation planning to the awarding of the contract for the first construction phase. The first of what will soon be 21,000 solar modules on the exhibition roofs were installed on 24 March 2023 by Bavarian Minister President Dr Markus Söder, Minister of State Albert Füracker, Nuremberg's Lord Mayor Marcus König and the Managing Directors of NürnbergMesse Prof. Dr Roland Fleck and Peter Ottmann.
