Robust enclosure for a measuring device in the automotive industry

REQUIREMENTS AND IMPLEMENTATION

Development of an enclosure for measurement and test engineering in the automotive industry. The system is used for the real-time simulation of electrical models such as circuits for HIL (hardware-in-the-loop) applications.

A special feature of this application was that the enclosure would contain installed loads of up to 70 kg. This made the additional mobility that was required of the complete system particularly challenging. 

TECHNICAL SUMMARY

HEITEC modified its well-established HeiCase enclosure platform to enable mobile use despite a high installed load.

The solution was based on rollers that were specially designed for such loads and thus enable easy, trouble-free transport. Due to its special construction, the HeiCase is ideal for high installed loads because it is produced from individual aluminum sections that are extruded together, thus permitting an extremely wide variety of configurations in terms of height, width, and depth.

For additional transportation options, the HeiCase was equipped with heavy-duty handles in the client’s own black. 

The enclosure solution was tested at HEITEC for possible static load limits. Handles and rollers supported an installed load of over 140 kg, which far exceeds the load limits for a typical enclosure of this type.
